FAQ: What if My Document Doesn’t Have a Notarial Certificate?

Sometimes a document does not include a notarial certificate. In those cases, I carry California-compliant loose certificates that can be attached. I do not charge extra for these forms. My clients get them for free.

The most common question I hear is:
“Which one do I pick?”

As a notary public, I cannot legally advise you on which notarial act to choose. That decision must be made by the signer or the document’s receiving agency. However, I can explain the differences so you understand the purpose of each.

📌 California Acknowledgment

Definition: An acknowledgment is used to verify that the signer’s identity has been confirmed and that they have willingly signed the document.

The signer acknowledges that they signed the document, but the notary does not witness the actual signing.

The document can be signed before or in front of the notary.

Common Uses:

Real estate documents (deeds, deeds of trust, grant deeds, etc.)

Powers of attorney

Other documents where ownership or authority is being transferred

📌 California Jurat

Definition: A jurat is used when the signer swears or affirms that the contents of the document are true. The notary must witness the signing.

The document must be signed in the presence of the notary.

The signer must take an oath or affirmation.

Common Uses:

Affidavits

Sworn statements

Depositions

✅ Key Difference:

Acknowledgment = Verifies the signer’s identity and willingness.

Jurat = Requires the signer to swear/affirm the truthfulness of the document in front of the notary.

Acceptable forms of ID

Acceptable Forms of Identification in California
In order for a notary public in California to properly identify a signer, the ID must be current or issued within the last 5 years, contain a photograph, physical description, signature, and a serial or identifying number.

✅ Commonly Accepted IDs:
California Driver’s License or California Identification Card
U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card
Other State Driver’s License or ID Card (issued by a U.S. state)
Driver’s License issued by Canada or Mexico
U.S. Military ID (must contain all required elements: photo, description, signature, and serial number)
Inmate ID card (for inmates in custody in a California state prison, issued by the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation)
Employee ID card issued by an agency or office of the State of California, or by a California city or county
⚠️ Important Notes:
Expired IDs are not valid, unless issued within the last 5 years.
Credit cards, Social Security cards, birth certificates, or temporary paper IDs are not acceptable for notarization.
If a signer doesn’t have one of the accepted IDs, California notary law does allow the use of two credible witnesses who can vouch for the signer’s identity under oath — but this comes with its own requirements.

Notary vs. Signing Agent, What is the difference? Which do I need for my loan documents?

📌 What is a Notary Public?
A Notary Public is an official appointed by the state (in California, by the Secretary of State) to serve as an impartial witness in the signing of important documents. The notary’s primary duties include:

Verifying the identity of the signer
Ensuring the signer is signing willingly and not under duress
Administering oaths and affirmations when required
Completing notarial certificates such as Acknowledgments and Jurats
The purpose of a notary public is to help deter fraud and ensure trust in legal and financial transactions.

📌 What is a Notary Signing Agent (NSA)?
A Notary Signing Agent, also called a Loan Signing Agent, is a notary public who has received additional training and certification to handle and notarize loan documents for real estate and mortgage transactions.

In addition to verifying identity and notarizing, a signing agent is trained to:

Guide borrowers through a loan package
Ensure all required documents are signed, initialed, and dated correctly
Prevent errors that could delay the closing or funding of a loan
Return documents promptly to the lender, escrow, or title company
While a notary public can notarize many different types of documents, a Notary Signing Agent specializes in real estate loan closings and works closely with lenders, escrow officers, and title companies.

The Importance of Estate Planning

Having a well-prepared estate plan is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your family and your assets. If you own a home, have children, or want to make sure your wishes are followed, an estate plan provides peace of mind and clear guidance for your loved ones.

An estate plan helps:

Ensure your property and finances are distributed according to your wishes

Avoid lengthy and costly probate court proceedings

Provide guardianship instructions for minor children

Protect your family’s privacy and reduce stress during a difficult time

Too often, families face unnecessary challenges simply because their loved one didn’t have the proper documents in place. By planning ahead, you’re giving your family a priceless gift—security and clarity when it matters most.

As a mobile notary in Corona, California and surrounding areas, I am able to notarize your estate planning documents, making the process convenient and stress-free. While I cannot create these documents for you, I work with several experienced estate planning attorneys in the area and am happy to provide referrals.

Estate planning is not just for the wealthy—it’s for anyone who wants to protect their home, their family, and their legacy.

Adoption Notarization Services

Adoption is one of the most meaningful and life-changing journeys a family can take. With it comes a lot of important legal paperwork that must be completed accurately and properly to ensure the process goes smoothly. One critical step in this process is adoption notarization.

As a mobile notary in Corona, CA and throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, I provide professional and reliable notarization services for adoption documents. My role as a notary public is to verify the identities of the signers, ensure all parties are signing willingly, and confirm that the documents are completed properly. This adds an extra layer of security and legal protection, ensuring that your adoption paperwork is legally binding and accepted by courts, agencies, and government offices.

Why Notarization is Important in Adoption
Identity Verification: I confirm that each signer is who they say they are, preventing fraud.
Accuracy & Compliance: Adoption documents often need to be notarized to meet state and court requirements.
Peace of Mind: Knowing your documents are completed correctly helps reduce delays in the adoption process.
Convenience: As a mobile notary, I come to you—whether at your home, office, or another location that works best for you.
Common Adoption Documents That May Require Notarization

Document Translation Services

In addition to mobile notary services, I am proud to offer professional document translation in over 100 different languages. Whether you need personal, legal, or business documents translated, accuracy and clarity are essential.

When documents are written in one language but must be presented or filed in another, professional translation ensures that the meaning, tone, and details are preserved exactly as intended. This is especially important for legal contracts, immigration paperwork, real estate documents, medical records, and business agreements.

By working with experienced translators, I make the process seamless and efficient. You’ll receive a translation that is both precise and culturally accurate, so your documents are ready for official use without delays or misunderstandings.

Some of the most common documents I can help translate include:

Birth certificates & marriage certificates
Divorce decrees & adoption records
Wills, trusts, and estate planning documents
Loan documents & real estate contracts
Business agreements & employment records
Medical records & academic transcripts
💡 Why choose professional translation?
Because even a small error in translation can lead to big problems—delayed approvals, rejected filings, or even legal disputes. With professional services, you can have peace of mind knowing your documents will be accepted the first time.

If you’re in need of document translation in Corona, California, or the surrounding Inland Empire areas, I can help. Contact me today to discuss your needs and get a personalized quote.

Hours and Availability

Hours & Availability
I understand that life doesn’t always run on a traditional 9-to-5 schedule. Sometimes important documents need to be signed urgently, and finding a notary at the last minute can feel stressful. That’s why I offer flexible hours and do my best to be available when you need me, not just during standard business times.

Whether it’s an evening appointment after work, a weekend signing, or even a same-day emergency request, I encourage you to reach out. I know how important it is to get documents notarized promptly—especially for real estate transactions, loan signings, powers of attorney, and estate planning documents. Having a reliable notary who can accommodate your schedule can make all the difference in keeping your plans on track.

If for any reason I am unable to personally assist you, I will gladly connect you with one of my trusted notary colleagues. I only refer clients to professionals I know and trust, so you can feel confident that your signing will still be handled smoothly, accurately, and on time.

My goal is to make the notarization process as convenient, stress-free, and professional as possible. As a mobile notary in Corona, California, and the surrounding Inland Empire areas, I bring my services directly to you—whether that’s your home, office, hospital, or another location that works best for your schedule.

Pricing

Pricing
When it comes to notarization, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” solution. Every signing situation is different, and several factors can affect the total cost of a mobile notary appointment. My goal is to keep pricing transparent, fair, and tailored to your needs, so you always know what to expect before your appointment.

Factors That Affect Pricing
Number of Notarizations – The California state fee is $15 per signature notarized, but the overall price depends on how many signatures are required.
Type of Document or Transaction – Real estate transactions, loan packages, powers of attorney, and estate planning documents may vary in time and complexity.
Number of Signers – If multiple people are signing, each signature requires a separate notarization.
Travel Distance and Location – As a mobile notary in Corona and surrounding areas (Norco, Eastvale, Riverside, Inland Empire), I travel to you. Travel fees vary depending on mileage, location, and urgency (same-day or last-minute requests may be higher).
Time of Appointment – After-hours, weekend, or emergency notarizations may include an additional service fee.
Why I Don’t Post Flat Fees Online
Because every situation is unique, it’s not practical to post a flat fee schedule on my website. For example, notarizing a single affidavit for one person in Corona will be priced differently than handling a full real estate loan signing with multiple signers in Riverside.

Simple and Transparent Quotes
Instead of guessing, I make it easy:
📲 Call or text me at 909-938-1227 with a few details about your notarization needs, and I’ll provide you with an exact quote before we schedule your appointment.

This way, there are no surprises—you’ll know the total cost upfront, and you can feel confident knowing your notarization will be handled promptly and professionally.

About me

About Me

Kimberly Kendall

My name is Kimberly Kendall, and I am a Mobile Notary Public based in Corona, California, proudly serving the surrounding areas. I absolutely love what I do and the people I get to meet along the way.

Before becoming a notary, I worked in the corporate world in sales and marketing. After having my children, I chose to step away from that career to spend more time with them. As they grew older and more independent, I found myself drawn to a profession that allowed me to connect with people while still having flexibility for my family.

For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a notary public. It has been an incredibly rewarding career—one where I’ve had the opportunity to meet wonderful people, hear amazing stories, and help clients with important moments in their lives.

I take pride in making every signing smooth, professional, and stress-free.

Over 300- 5 star Reviews on Google

Thank you to my loyal customers. I appreciate all of you and your kind reviews.

Kimberly was absolutely amazing! She was quick to respond, professional, friendly, flexible, and kind-the whole package. We needed documents notarized urgently, and she went out of her way to accommodate our schedule. Her communication was clear, and she even waited patiently when we ran late to our appointment. This is the second time we’ve used her services, and both experiences have been equally pleasant. I highly recommend Kimberly without hesitation!
